24/7 (Reduced) (2021) is part of Sum, a series of paintings concerning time and the addictive nature of the bright, lucid light of your phone screen, usually in the early hours of the morning.

The series is named after David Eagleman’s short story of the same name that explores how, when you die, you’ll experience all of the events from your life in different sections, grouped together by their similar qualities. You might spend two hundred consecutive days showering, whilst only fifteen hours will be spent writing your signature.

The paintings in the series are Bob Bicknell-Knight’s way of coming to terms with how long he spends meaninglessly scrolling through his phone, obsessing over pointless social media trends and the minutiae of other people’s lives.

The larger canvases are accompanied by reduced versions exhibited in 3D printed frames without a perimeter, exposing the inner workings of the structure.
